
John
R. MacRill, Jr. has tried well over 100 superior court
civil jury cases throughout the state of California in his almost
40 years as a lawyer. He has spent the majority
of his career defending physicians, nurses, hospitals, medical
centers, uninsured trusts, and other members of the medical community
against allegations of professional negligence.
Mr. MacRill is a graduate of the University of Southern California,
both undergraduate and law school, and he served in the United States
Navy.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. MacRill was a claims investigator
and adjuster for one of the largest insurance companies in California.
He investigated various types of cases, including auto, personal
injury, general liability, and medical malpractice.
For
fourteen years, Mr. MacRill was in charge of the medical
malpractice department of a large downtown Los Angeles law firm. As
the head of that department, it was his responsibility to train
all of the medical malpractice attorneys and oversee the handling
of all of the medical malpractice files. Additionally, in his almost
40 years as a lawyer, Mr. MacRill has tried many high
exposure cases such as cases involving brain damaged newborns,
children and adults, wrongful death, as well as cases involving
paralysis and loss of limbs, etc.
Mr. MacRill is a member of the Association of Southern California
Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, the International
Association of Defense Counsel, the Southern California Association
of Health Risk Managers, and the American College of Legal Medicine.
John
R. MacRill, III has practiced exclusively in the area of
medical malpractice, elder abuse and premises liability since his
admission to the California bar. He specializes in handling a variety
of cases, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death.
Mr. MacRill attended the University of Southern California where
he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, with an emphasis
in ethics, in 1994. Thereafter, he attended California Western
School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1997.
While in law school, Mr. MacRill's primary emphasis was in
oral advocacy attaining the distinction of being a member of the
the national trial team. During that time, he and his teammates
received the American Jurisprudence Award for
placing first in the prestigious San Diego Defense Lawyer's
Trial Competition. He was also honored for his appellate
advocacy skills. Mr. MacRill also was awarded an Academic
Achievement Award in Bioethics and was named in the very
exclusive "Who’s Who Among American Law Students"
publication. He was admitted to the California bar in 1997.
Currently,
Mr. MacRill is a member of the Association of Southern California
Defense Counsel and the Southern California Association of Health
Risk Managers.
